About CB Print
Citizens' Band radio (often shortened to CB radio) is a system of short-distance radio communications between individuals on a selection of 40 channels within the 27-MHz, maximum power level 4 watts. CB stations are fixed or portable. A direct operation is possible by car's battery terminal (12V). CB antennas can be mounted on the roof of the vehicle, even with magnetic support.
Generally speaking range for a mobile CB Radio could be anywhere from +/- 6km, to even +/-15 km or more, depending on the terrain, type of antennas used, & other factors.
A CB radio sation with antenna costs about 500 RON.

Main differences between CB and PMR446:
Both are a short-distance radio communication systems but while CB uses 5 watts, PMR 446 uses only 0,5 watts, and this come from their different antenna measurements.
Within 27 Mhz a Lambda/4 antenna should be 3 meters, a same PMR antenna is only 17 cm long. Beacuase of its size it isn't practical to use a this kind of antenna mounted on vehicles, so the antenna wand was shortened, then attached to a choking-coil, as an auxiliary resource. The antenna shortenings are made by the wanted communication distance.
Because of these facts PMR446 is more preferabile for those who want to use radio stations for more than just a car communication service.
Before decide upon buying a CB or PMR station you have to know these differences to specify your own purpose of using a radio communication system.
