Technical information:

In Romania are ratified only PMR446 (Private Mobile Radio, 446 MHz) channels, while the same use as FRS or GMRS only in the United States and Canada.
PMR446 uses eight channels and 38 privacy codes (CTCSS), maximum power is 500 mW ERP.
Analogue PMR uses FM simplex channels. Depending on surrounding terrain range can vary from a few hundred metres (in a city) to a few kilometres (flat countryside).
PMR446 is primarily used in consumer-grade walkie-talkies, so you can use it whenever you are on a trip, on a car tour or hiking with firends.
The recommended channel for these conversations is channel 2 with privacy code 2.
